Montana Music Scene: Plan for Upcoming Festivals

The music scene is thriving here in Montana this summer. Plan your upcoming trip to catch one of these iconic festivals:

Red Lodge Songwriter Festival (Red Lodge, MT): Celebrating 10 years this June, the Red Lodge Songwriter Festival is a three-day event in the streets of Red Lodge. Local restaurants, cafes and theaters open up their spaces for songwriters across the country to showcase their music. Held on June 18-20, the festival will feature 26 songwriters and over 50 shows.

Headwaters Country Jam (Three Forks, MT): This three-day country music festival, held July 23-25, will feature 20+ bands on two stages, surrounded by Montana’s awe-inspiring landscape.

Red Ants Pants Festival (White Sulphur Springs, MT): The festival is a program of the 501(c)(3) Red Ants Pants Foundation, which develops and expands leadership roles for women, preserves and supports working family farms and ranches, and enriches and promotes rural communities. The festival will take place July 23-26. All proceeds go toward community grants and programs.

Zootown (Missoula, MT): Back for its second year on June 19-20, Zootown is a two-day outdoor music festival at the Missoula Fairgrounds. The festival features national acts like The Lumineers and Rainbow Kitten Surprise, and offers local food vendors and outdoor recreational activities right where the mountains meet the Clark Fork River.

Under the Big Sky (Whitefish, MT): This annual three-day music and arts festival will be held on July 17-19 on Big Mountain Ranch in Whitefish. Under the Big Sky features Americana, country, folk and rock artists along with rough stock rodeo, local vendors and incredible views of the Whitefish Mountain Range.
