Every summer, many tribal nations in Montana host celebrations to honor their traditions and history. Plan a trip to visit one of these celebrations and learn about each tribal nation’s rich culture.
- White River Days Celebration: Held in Busby at the White River Powwow Grounds and Racetrack, this event celebrates the Northern Cheyenne Tribe and features horse races and horseshoe tournaments, powwow dancing and more. This celebration will take place on June 26-28.
- Milk River Indian Days: For over 50 years, the Fort Belknap Reservation has hosted Milk River Indian Days, which takes place July 24-26. The Assiniboine and Gros Ventre tribes showcase their culture in a shared celebration of identity and heritage. This includes dance, music and various cultural activities.
- North American Indian Days: Every summer in Browning, the Blackfeet Nation hosts North American Indian Days, which features a weekend celebration with dancing and drumming, a kids rodeo, two days of PRCA rodeo, Indian relay races, stick games, a carnival, parade, vendors and more. This year’s festival takes place July 9-12.
